Iron Brigade's Rusty Regiment pulls out a LC, 1/2 Reale, and CW relics!!

I managed to get out for an all day hunt with RodeoRecon on Sunday. It's the first time we had hunted together in a while, and it's my first all day hunt in a long time. :icon_thumright: We hit a spot that produced a confederate block "I" button last year. :headbang:

As soon as we started to swing, we both got a good signal. I jokingly said "There's my Large Cent". :laughing7: He laughed and finished digging up this nice looking eagle cuff button:

About that time, I pull out "my large cent". It's a little rough, but I'll take it. I can barely make out a 5 in the date. I believe it's an 1825, which would be my oldest coin to date.

This site is full of iron. Here's some of the iron that we pulled out.

After searching for a while, with little to show for it (musket ball, and a couple of toe/heel plates, and a small broach), RodeoRecon pulls out a nice 2 piece sportsman button with a goat on the front.

Then he digs a belt plate we could use some help with. He found a similar one last year with clipped corners and some attachment holes that someone said was possibly an 1820's era regimental plate missing the insignia. It's on the left, and the one he recovered Sunday is on the right. The most recent one is a little narrower with only 2 holes. This one may be easier to identify. ??

Let me know if you have any ideas.
As we were starting to wrap it up, I got another good signal on a fringe area of the site, and pull out my oldest silver to date:

An 1826 Mexican 1/2 Reale. Sorry for the crappy pic, but my blackberry isn't good at closeups.
On the way back to the vehicle, I was swinging my coil, and got a nice signal. It turned out to be a brass butt plate.

After looking at an earlier post in the "what is it" forum I have determined it is more than likely from an 1853 Enfield Barnett! The tang is bent in, but who's isn't? :tongue3: Guess I know where the hunt will start when we go back. All in all, it was a beautiful day with some cool finds, and it felt good to be back in the swing of things. (pun intended)

Thanks for looking, and as always........HH!! :hello:

Dont get any speeding tickets getting back to that honey spot. Great pics with a terrific assortment, thanks for sharing your story. :icon_sunny:
Thanks Charlene. I'll try to watch my speed, but I can't guarantee that I won't speed a little. :laughing7:

That makes a few of us. I need to move a pic of them over to the What is it forum.

Thanks! We haven't pulled many buttons out of this site, but the caliber of buttons we have dug make up for it.

That Goat/long horned sheep/Afician deer looking button is pretty unusual, not seen that design until now :hello2:
Yeah, we don't find may civilian 2 piece buttons to begin with, and to pull out this odd one was nice.

Very well done!!!
I do beleive your goat is an Ibex! What makes that really cool is that Sporting buttons were generally handed out for taking a specific animal by a hunting club,to be sewn onto your jacket!Ibex are a wild goat.....not just some barn yard goat!!
Thanks for the info, kuger. Sounds like the guy that lived at this site was well traveled.

Nothing keeps the IB down! ;D Most excellent hunt guys. Great CW relics, and congrats on the old coins and that goat button.
Congrats,
MM
Thanks, MM. It was good to get out there on an "Iron Brigade" hunt, even if it was just the rusty regiment of the brigade. I wish I had more time to dig.
