Iron spike

I found this iron spike on Hutchinson Island. It was found near the water line, about 1' deep, and next to a treestump. Can anyone please help on what the age is. It was heavily encrusted. I have sprayed it with Corrosion X. Any help will be appreciated.

Could be a year old could be two hundred years old , need to see the rest of it and even then in my opinion its still guessing without other associated finds to build from. Good luck...

Nice find.

That spike is in good condition, which doesn't necessarily mean it isn't old. The only time I've seen one in that state is when all the encrustation has been removed, then brushed with a wire brush.

You need to put it in an electrolytic bath for a month.

So you found it near the waterline, but next to a tree stump....I know of a few places that fit that description on Hutchinson Island. Keep searching that area...you are bound to find more

I found an iron spike in wood just north of your location, after the last hurricane...doesn't look as old though.
