How would you separate the silver from the copper?

Rogers 'silver on copper' was electro-plated. You won't be able to get the silver off with hammer, although with a hammer and chisel you could painstakingly gather silver-rich material. Commercially, the silver on electro-plated items is removed by chemical stripping or reverse electroplating, but the silver content will be less than 1% of the total weight of the metal.

Now
That! Is good to know

The item is a silent butler, or crumb catcher.
In other categories it would be classified as hollowware.
I'm cautious of Roger's silver as I have seen silver on brass. It stated copper like your item.
Recovery from the silent butler would be 5 grams of silver.

.Surface Area Calculation: A standard 7.5 × 6 inch box plus its lid has a total exterior plated surface area of roughly 400 square centimeters (≈ 62 sq in).
Plating Thickness: At a high-quality vintage standard thickness of 20 microns (0.002 cm), the physical volume of the silver shell equals just 0.8 cubic centimeters (400 × 0.002).Pure Silver Density: Pure silver has a density of 10.49 grams per cubic centimeter.

Total Yield: Multiplying the volume by the density (0.8 × 10.49) gives an absolute maximum of 8.39 grams of silver used.

Now subtract wear and loss in the refining process.
Sulphuric acid would be 1st choice for acids.
Takes the silver off without attacking the copper underneath.

Silver Precipitation: The silver dissolves into the acid to form silver sulfate. Then add ordinary copper strips or table salt to the solution, causing the pure metallic silver to drop out of the liquid as a gray crystalline powder that can be melted into a pure button.
There's a lot of rinse cycles in the process also it has to be distilled water.

Here is the silver nitrate dropping out of solution. The end result is the same once its melted.

Red coat is right on. any EP isnt worth it.
Not a correct answer regarding EP.
It all depends on how a person approaches the silver-plating and the process of extracting the plating off the items.

Silver plated cutlery is silver plate over brass generally. The plating can be single or multiple layers of plating. (AI, Triple plated, EPNS)

AI It typically means that 2 pennyweights (approx. 3.1 grams) of pure silver were used to coat a dozen standard-sized spoons or forks.
AA has double
Triple plate X3
Quadruple Plated X4 This would for commercial use (Hotel)

The base metals: Nickel silver, brass. copper, lead, zinc.
Trim metals: Britannia Metal (Tin-Antimony-Copper Alloy), White Metal / Lead Alloys (Pot Metal)

Scrap metal pricing: Nickel silver/yellow brass $3-3.25
#2 Copper $5.30

Large serving trays can be worth more in scrap than the actual asking price. Here's an example of buying right and return on the purchase. (The tray on the wall weighed 12 lbs x copper price)

"less than 1% of the total weight of the metal".
Actually the real amount on hollowware is 0.01% of total weight of the item.
Hammer and chisel? Maybe to break it up into manageable sizes.
Sanding off the silver plate has been suggested but still one has to process the findings.

To answer your query: If you were to strip the plating and sell the copper
Silver value=Spot $10 realistic what you could get $8.5-9.00
Copper=$3.00
Total=$12.00
asking price $12.00
Net return $0.00
Save your $$$ if you think you can swing a profit on this item.

Not to mention the labor involved and the hazardous waste generated.....

it’s always an educational experience here.

If done properly the waste isn't that big.
Neutralize, PH to 7, copper out if solution is high on the list. Drop an iron bar in the waste bucket to get the copper out.
