IS THE LDM at the base of a bluff?

The location clue you mention, I think is a real clue, but not for Waltz’ mine.
The mine at the base of bluffs or cliffs, is also near the top of a steep arroyo. It was the initial target for Waltz and his partner. It is where the Mexicans were working, when Waltz and his partner first showed up, by following the monumented trail.
Legend says that the LDM is/was a Peralta mine first. The shaft mine.
Waltz and his partner abandoned the Peralta mine in favor of the outcrop below, that had ore that was much richer than the Peralta mine.
One needs to ponder a moment here. We have seen images of LDM gold in the matchbox, and ring.
That LDM gold, in my honest opinion, came from the Peralta mine. The one at the base of bluffs/cliffs.
The real LDM, where Waltz’ partner is buried is the tunnel down below…. The one not more than 200’ directly across the canyon, from his hidden camp.
If you read the account given by Julia Thomas, the one written up in an article by P.C.Bicknell in Jan 1895, in the San Francisco chronicle, the info is there.
That article tells of how Waltz and his partner came to have the (2) mines.
Folk get clues about the mines mixed up, trying to figure which clue is correct….. not realizing there are (2) mines, with different descriptions.
