Is this a garnet?

From a search I think that is what it is. Just wanted some more conframation. It was from a creek in the foothills of NC while sluicing for gold.

Thanks. I was 99% sure that it was a garnet, but was hoping that 1% was someone telling me it was a rare ruby worth $1000000000000

yep, piece of garnet, whole ones have something like 12 sides and come all different sizes.
