Is this a gothic mortar and pestle?

Bought this huge bronze pestle and mortar hoping it was an old one but i doubt it now. Is this a gothic mortar and pestle or a cheap knockoff? 8 kilos in total with pestle (original) and pestle is 36 cm and 2 kilos and the mortar is 24 x 20 cm and sounds like a bell.

You didn't shoe the pestle end.

But anyways , metal can impart taste.
Metal can also leach.

Considering "normal" use of a mortar explains why metal is not the preferred more often seen material.

I am not saying your piece has any thing to do with flip.
But it might make more sense than crushing tomatoes or something.

My mortar is of bronze not metal or is that not what you mean? Here is the pestle

Looks like a decoration before being a mortar.

How would you pulverize anything with inside corners in the mortar? Let alone with the pestle you have.

have posted new photo's. usualy these mortars where for grinding powders or herbs. it has been used.
