I should add here that rare or scarce does not always mean valuable. It means
that of the original printing, there are very few, if any, copies available in libraries
or on the retail market.
Condition is always critical with any book, and condition does not relate to age.
Condition is condition, period. I can see some foxing on the pages, and small
tears at the stapled binding. Do Not attempt to correct any of the condition
issues the book may have, as it will only devalue it.
The inscription on the title page shows it was given as a gift, but there is no
author signature there. This should not change the value considering the
scarceness of the book.
Are the illustrations in the book signed with credit to the artist? IE: who
illustrated it?
Also, the poem shown relates to fly fishing..is the book about fly fishing
in Kashmir?
All of these little things can add to the value, and that is where the experience
of a knowledgeable bookman comes in.
