Yes , that is a keeper - can't help with value - but some of the bottlefreaks may know insulators as well - that one appears to be blown glass.
Argentium.

Yes, seems like a keeper. Compare to those found here Insulators: Patent - Dec. 19, 1871 or maybe some on ebay. Lots of info found during Google search "insulator patent December 19th 1871". Too much to list here-didn't want to overwhelm.

Some insulators are wortn big bucks-mostly cool colors or odd shapes, but some (such as ones with patent dates like yours) are worth more than the average couple of bucks.

Nice finds!

Thank you, I was just curious. If it's worth anything I'll pick up all the ones I come across while detecting. I found another one that appeared to be like baked porcelain or something that still had wire attached to it but it looked really old.

You're welcome-good to pick up any you find (for free) because even some of the blah looking ones can be worth good money.

Yup, I've found that one too...the top had a big screw coming out of it and there was wire attached to it.

Pretty, especially if it is not chipped or cracked. I'd be saving it. WTG :icon_thumleft:

Thanks guys and gal. When the detecting is slow I can just eyeball the area for these things.
