JACKPOT at the Bank....398 silvers.....

I hit it big monday. The breaks on my truck were starting to make that awful squeeling sound so i popped into the bank to pick up some cash. When i get to the teller i notice a silver half in her tray. I politely asked her if i could trade it for two quarters, and she said " sure, would you like the rest of them?" I said no i just want this one, it was a 1967 40%er, i was ticked. Then she said, "No i mean the rest of the silver halves?, a lady just dropped off some and we have to count them manually." I asked her how many she had, and she said 50 or 60 bucks worth. Of course i told her i would take them, and i waited patiently while she counted them off. I could hear the silver being counted, and would look over from time to time just to see what was there. She finally came to the counter and said, " I was wrong there was $251.00, do you still want them?" DUH. i didnt say that but thats what i was thinking. So i write her a check for $251.00, and head out to my truck to see what i have. OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The first thing i see is an uncirulated roll of 1963 Franklin Halves.. Brilliant mint luster never touched my human hands. Later when I got home i went through the box and found 140 90% 39 Franklins including the 20 that were BU, and 258 40% Kennedys. There were 101 90% 64 Kennedys, for a total face value of $199.00 Not a bad day thats a total silver value of a little over $3,500.00

I read.... 39 Franklins (20BU) 101 64 Kennedy. The rest were 40%ers or clad for total $251. Great Haul! BTW

Kind of wish you hadn't posted this also in 'Today's Finds'. I am super happy for you, but there is already so much competition out there!!!

In my area there are a bunch of people that CRH. Your luck to get halves, usually its just a roll or two, and if you find a bunch they are all marked. There is a guy around here that buys everything with half dollars, i ran in to him at wall-mart, he told me he gets 5000.00 a week and goes through them. so i just happened to be there at the right time, or may the old dude died?? Dont know, but this is one of the rare occasions that i was able to beat him to the punch. He banks at the same bank i do. so was kind of surprised. Sorry about posting it in todays finds but i hat to show it off. This is the biggest hual ive ever had.

you got dibs --too bad so sad fer him * -- major score -- you handled like a pro -- you do know you owe that teller big time of course ?-- do right by her -- tellers like that make great "freinds" --uh have you ever hadany freinds basically hand over to you over $3,000 in free money ?-- most likely not --so treat her good even after selling it to a dealer at a bit of a discount from full silver value --its still a once in a lifetime type ofgreat strike -- so be nice to her -- she knew they were silver (thus valuible) and easily could have kept em for herself. -- plus if you sweeten her up a bit other "strikes" might come in (be sure she has your phone number *) --tellers like that are rare rare rare these days

This is the second time ive had a great score, last year i got behind a lady that turned in 186.00 in halves 99 of them were silver... So i have been really LUCKY, and Lucky is the key word. I just always ask the tellers if they have any halves and they are starting to remember me. Hope that plays out in my favor.

I've had some nice scores, some solid rolls here and there, and last week my best score of the year. nothing like this though. But once you get around to banks asking for coin, tellers do remember you. I've had a lot of them ask me if they can take down my phone number to call when they get halves in. A lot of times they just want to get rid of them. It's kinda weird to say it, but we all hope to come in and get some little ole ladies coin dump even though she has no idea what it's worth. That's how a lot of us get big scores, people just not knowing what they are getting rid of. Nothing wrong with it, metal detecting is similar too. We find things that people lost, and we hope they are valuable. So congrats on that score, sorry I was a little confused on your opening post. Sounds like your brakes went out at the right time though, that's awesome. Great story to tell your grand kids someday too.

many times teller hate having to "hand count" and recount halves over and over again in the vault --they often want em gone -- sometimes there is nothing but "cherry picked" skunks but at times you can score --always give them your number if they ask for it -- try to releave them of halves for a while and see if they seem "cherry picked" to death --if so let them know that you might not get them in the future since they seem to all be "picked over" to death .-- that way they will leave a few silvers in em so you will clean out the vault fer em

Very nice finds, but don't be selective. It's best to always take all they have. In this case they seemed to know (and not care) about the "S" word, but most banks are not that way. The quickest way to encourage teller cherry-picking is to make them wonder why you are buying some halves, but not others.

I'm just saying.
