Thanks everyone! I have to tell you how it happened, so we blew a hole and Jimmy Burg (owner of the Square Grouper), Steve McAdoo and myself went down to check it out, there were tons of boulders and rocks, so we started moving them and piling them up on the outer bigger rocks, by the way we blew a hole 15ft + in to the sand on this one! Once we moved everything we went over the blown out hole and outer area and not a single hit on the Garrett Sea Hunter Mark 2. So we came up and blew for about 15 more mins, it was a bit rough and while blowing it shifted over a couple feet moving the hole over about 2ft uncovering good bottom. Once we got back in the water and got to the bottom all the rocks we moved were back in the hole! I was thinking "this is great we get to do this all over again"!! Moved all the rocks and went over the area with the Garrett Sea Hunter Mark 2 after I moved some small rocks to get a good reading and I got a hit!!!!!!! I fanned it twice with my hand and all I saw was this shinny gold coin! It was so bright and amazing, I just started screaming underwater GOLD!! Jimmy Burg looked in the hole and though I found the mother load, that I opened up an underwater palace of treasure that was never ending, but he didn't see anything, then saw me holding the coin and I watched his eyes grow to the size of his head, he said on the boat it looked like it was 10in by 10in and the brightest thing he's ever seen!! Lets not leave out the other 16 Pieces of Eight found also! Thanks to Scott Thomson of the SeaHunter "Who wants to dive for treasure" and its kick ass Team I found my first Escudos!!! 2011 is gonna be an amazing year, Our crew has such an amazing aura and brings such positivity that the loot just seems to find us, I think the treasure is thinking dam, these guys are having a blast, lets get in the way of that metal detector and get on that boat!!! haha. Thank you to everyone who has posted something positive and congratulating myself and our crew!

Old Spanish gold escudos are one of the most beautiful coins in the world in design.
And their bigger denominations (4 and 8 escudos) are incredibly huge compared
to their English counterparts. That's why English pirates liked them so
much ;D.

Wow, :o

That's an amazing story, I was offered a treasure hunting job when I first got certified with PADI. :icon_scratch: I turned it down I was 16 and two years later they found treasure. :dontknow: They are all millionaires now. :tongue3: I had no interest in looking for treasure then. :help: I regret it now, I'd do almost anything to have that opertunity again. :notworthy: You are truly blessed, congratulations to you all !!! :headbang:

Keep @ it and HH !! ;D :D

wow that is a fantastic find! congrats

Fantastic recovery and congrats on the gold, as well as the other coins. Has someone ID'd the coin? It looks like 16th century or early 17th to me, but I am no expert.

That lovely Spanish Cross we all hope for :o
hammered in pure Gold.
A most beautiful Treasure

Congratulations! :icon_thumright: Awesome finds!

How do you sign up to go on an excursion like that?

That's some great stuff. There's not much that compares to hammered Spanish gold, especially when you see it in the dirt! Your effort sure paid off.
