Hello rock hounds! I look at this sectioin every once in awhile on tnet to see the interesting rocks and what the names are and such. I know very very very little about rocks/minerals so I just wanted to see if any of you could tell me what this is that I found while metal detecting. Found a couple of weeks ago and I think it was in the hole I dug. Thought it was cool looking so I kept it.

just a guess reminds me of agate

"Branded Agate" was the First thing to actually pop in my mind

I'v definately seen it before, but Havn't seen
a definate piece Identified since I was about 10.
so as I said only a guess From me.

in the 60's all you needed to do was write a letter
to state Capitals & Request a free mineral and rock collection,
& the states would mail them Out. They would have all the
common state rocks in and Id'd
Not sure If they still do that
