Kellyco Huge Waste of Time

I think it was 3 years ago (?) I spent a day in Kellyco's store. For me that was a great opportunity as I'd first done business with them in the early 80's. My first detector was mail order from Kellyco = my Garrett DeepseekerADSIII.

Their's wasn't a large shop or storeroom, but I got to be there for several hours.

I will and do hate to see them go.

I believe the events of the recent history have been self initiated and by design by them. This somewhat has also has had an impact with customer relations. Since Minelab came out with their new products, the market has appeared to soar. There are several other manufactures very busy in the catch-up game. My take is that we will start to see these new attempts will be marketed very soon. The many other on line venues are very busy with their campaigns to draw customers. It is to bad that the recent metal detecting magazines have closed, because they were also a very good means of getting some of the news about the market. Time will tell.

This brings up another question.

Is Kellyco still doing repairs?

Kellyco is under new management, the actual business was sold, the building and property that held the old store was not sold. Majority of Kellyco's business was always on line and the operating costs of running the actual store was not covered by the revenue the store by itself generated.

My friends/ hunting partners working at Kellyco have told me the new owners have invested a lot of money into the new kellyco, they have also expanded their operating hours to 7 days a week to better serve their customers, M-F phones are open till 8:30 pm, Sat and Sun till 5:00 pm now.

They closed the repair center down since there was no longer a building to run it from. They stop all repair work on Minelab, Nokta/Makro and Aqua Scan.

I stopped in the Winter Springs store last October to look for a new setup to keep in the truck on the road. The only thing they had on my list in stock was a scoop. Their store had turned into just a museum with the ability to place online orders. That's how I found Myers in Tampa, which I have purchased all of my newest equipment at.

In addition to the Internet, I think the supply (the vendors) exceeds demand (the customers). I'm still surprised by how many metal detecting vendors there are.

A new physical store opened in St. Augustine, FL. "Ancient City Metal Detectors". They will be at the Treasure Hunters Cookout on the 27th and will be donating an ACE 400 for our raffle!
