Here's a key I found- do people still use these?

More interesting though, is this hand-wrought steel item which appears to be some type of tool. It took me a while to process, but when I finally exposed the tip, I was really amazed at how fine the point is!

I believe you may have found a cloth / sail tool needle... it MIGHT have come from this IMO.

With the pic of the key as it is, it looks like an electrical enclosure key.

You are probably right. At first I thought of one of those keys used for opening a can of Sardines.
