Sure you like to hear your detector beeping, as do I, but I can assure you to others it is just damn annoying.
Now another site is lost to you, and probably others as well.
Any time you draw attention to youself, most often nothing good ever comes of it.
If you are going to be around other people, I strongly suggest everyone use headphones.
I certainly don't mean to offend anyone, this is just my opinioin, but this is pretty good evidence to support my opinoin.
One more site lost is one too many. Is it not ?![]()

People go to a campground to enjoy a little relaxation. When you interfere with other people's relaxation you become a problem.
You don't go to the movies and talk on your cell phone do you? No? Why not? Out of respect for others.
I think a little respect for others is in order.
You fill your holes right? Why? Out of respect for others.
We fight this kind of BS all the time. The reason we have to fight it in the first place is because people believe they don't need to follow some sort of decency code. That's for others.
You can play if off, but the fact is, if you're in a camground with other people around
you might find another area where you aren't around so many folks.
Besides, those rangers are always just looking for a reason to boot someone like you out of their campground.

Get new rangers.
Sometime back I had a finch or a warbler or some little bird nearby in a park I was detecting, bird starting mimicking my old 1235X. I told the park guy to get rid of the bird. Couldn't tell if it was my machine or the bird after awhile. He yelled at the bird. Good guy!
Any ranger looking for reason to throw someone like me out is looking the wrong way.

He can still detect there....he just has to use headphones. I bet one old grouch complained....probally had their hearing aid turned up to high. I don't think he was being disrespectful....I just think he didn't think it would bother anyone. I think I used the word think to much.Rick (Nova Scotia) said:diggummup said:That's what's wrong with this country, bunch of friggin whiners. 'Cept your a Canuck. Metal Detecting is not a crime.

You should have told him that your detector was in this country illegally. CA is a sanctuary state.

yes folks whine and cry like a buncha babies -- got no life, busy body whiny folks do that . sadly you got to deal with em -- remember the bottom line is --to get what YOU want --to detect and snag all those lovely coins and maybe a bit of jewelry too --so by hook or crook do so --get headphones --return say --"see no noise" -- then go about yer bussiness.
when around large groups of folks by the % 's theres going to be at least one of the 10% of the world is a butthole "busy body whiner" type person.--so using head phones / ear buds --is a wize move to avoid having to interact with them.
even if they can not hear you --they might still whine anyway -whats he doing ==isn't that illegal ? get a frickin life you bunch of no life , nosey useless wind bags. .
