Vino invited me up to hunt with him and NJBen, I drove up and hunted four hours with some great finds, the King George is soaking in oil, hope to pull a date later, I can almost see a date. Found six cool buttons, any ID help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again to George, always exciting hunting with him, I'll let him and Ben tell you what they found.

Enjoy the pix, I'll update later with a date (I hope)

Brad

only problem, it does not show back

Another reason I was hoping it was real was because the shank hole is not centered, go back and look at next to last pic

Just took these pix

The upper right hand button is exactly what I have, size wise too.

That is a replica based on a genuine one, so a matching picture of the back wouldn't mean much. It's the back of an authentic one that you need to see.

Damn buddy that's a good day. Thought the button might look to good to be true but I hope I'm wrong. Problem is that I'm wrong a lot but IP usually isn't. I got my fingers crossed for you bud but either way that's a very good day

Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, I guess where it says "new" that means its a replica?

Yeah I thought that was what I was looking at. Do you have any 64 buttons we could look at? Or pix there of?

He wants me to work for it.

Just have pics of the front in my book. and both of that style have some edge damage... which is a little more evidence that would make a person lean towards reproduction.

Quite honestly in my mind there is little hope because too many things make me question it.

Hey Brad...It was made out of pewter. ..If it was real. It would be half gone after 250 years in the ground. ..Sorry dude...Next time.

Your such a tease, first it no, then its maybe, then its there is no hope, lol
I hate buttons, it was hard enough for me to ID my namesake then some body has to throw in another monkey wrench, repros!
Ha

Congrats Brad on some great finds! Even if the "64" button is a repro, I think it is a nice find!

I have to be that way because too many get emotional, and others ready to jump in that I'm calling a find fake. (plus I am not an expert)

Email Don Troiani for an answer. chainshot@aol.com He can sometimes provide info. on reproductions as well.... what year they were made.

I always thought your name was from a hook, lol.

That was the back mark on my first button in a cornfield, hence treblehunter.

I should have been called Rottenbackside then...that was the condition of my first button in a cornfield!

Sorry, I'm with IP one this one. Still they are out there, keep looking.

You don't have to be sorry, I'm with him too. I still have much to learn, I'm sorry I showed my ignorance. If I had even known the real button is pewter, I would have known it was a replica from the get go.
