King George II half penny and other items!

I found my first KG II half penny this weekend on a plantation near Charleston, SC. The date can't be seen but does anyone know what years these were made. I have read a few articles that suggest they were made between 1729 and 1754 but maybe someone could confirm that. The coin to the left of the KG II appears to be really old but is completely roached. I can't make out any markings on that coin.

Also, there is an object in the photos that resembles a shell casing but I don't think that is what the object is. Does anyone know what the object may be?

I also found a couple buttons. One button has a concave back and is rather large which suggests that it may be early to mid 1700s. The other one is a flat button with an eagle backmark with 5 stars above the eagle. The front of the button is blank. Any ideas on the buttons?

KG looks in good shape congrats on the two coppers! Like the little buckle. The buttons look like late 17 early 1800s civilian. Looks like a great place I'd go back soon. HH!

What does an old head version mean? Does that mean that it is an older version of the coin? I have read that a lot of these were counterfeited. Do you know what years the coin was made because I would like to be able to know a range of years that it could have been made?

Click on the link above and you will see the difference in old and new. The old head is actually the newer coin. It was minted when the KG was older himself. His bust ( young head version ) from his younger years is a much rounder or fuller profile.

I'm not at home with my coin book, but the KG II have two types, you can tell which type easily by the shoulder bottom line. One curves down the other up, but I can't recall this minute which is which, but either way you are looking post 1727 - pre 1760's. They changed design around 1740's. You can find them online.
The brass tube looks like a lipstick tube from what I can see of it. The last button shown looks like an early fabric covered button there was a ring inside the curved part that held the fabric in place.
BUT, I could be wrong.

Either way VERY nice finds! WTG! That's a large plantation to get to hunt, can't wait to see more. HH!
