King George III Coin Found While Artifact Hunting - Counterfeit?

I was walking a field artifact hunting off a small gravel road that was an old stage coach rd in early 1800s. While walking I picked up a small flat disk that had no visible image, after awhile as I walked the field hunting rubbing coin between thumb and fore finger I noticed an image starting to appear.

Here is the coin. I found out later on there use to be a stage way station in the area. Thinking it may be a counterfeit coin because of appearance.

Not a counterfeit. Its a contemporary gaming token and they were quite popular back in the day. Nice find.

Congrats on a cool find. Dang it sounds like you could have been behind my house here in Montgomery County. A quarter mile behind my house there is a gravel road that used to be a stage road, and there is a large white 2 story house with 2 pillered porch. History I heard was it was used as a stage station, post office, hotel back in the day.

Have always wanted to metal detect the yard but the folks who bought it about 8 years ago are from Texas and really keep to themselves, so I don't. The folks that lived there before were more open. Their attractive mid 50's daughter lives in town and has been the very busy manager of an interstate gas station in our small town for many many years. I mentioned once to her that I wished I had ask her folks about detecting the house grounds before they sold out. She said she and her sister did it with a cheap detector when they were kids. I was immediatly curiouss about what they found around that cool looking old place. She said, "not much just an old brass bugle, but the detector was really cheap."

I found it in north west Calloway county, in a field i had owner's permission to hunt. The gravel road was an old stage coach road, suppose to have been a way station some where in that area, field was bordered on west side by an old spring fed creek.
