Knife Blade?

Pretty sure it's a knife blade with the handle part broken off. But, I'd like to hear from the experts. It measures 4 1/2" x 1 1/4". Any ideas on age? The site is on an 1875 map.

I'm no expert but it sure does look like the blade from an old skinning knife to me

Thickness measures about 3 tenths of an inch.

Avg. = 0.3125.

Leather knife, German style, early fixed blade straight razor, tanning scraper... or... ?

Definitely a specialty tool, not a kitchen item, IMHO.
