I hunted along the Lake bank...was trying to hang on to a tree branch with one hand and retrieve a bottle in the lake with the other....when plink...splash...sink....went my cell phone out of my pocket....oh my gosh :o...I had no choice except to dive in after it.....to say the lake was cold ....doesnt even cover it...plus I had my heavy felt lined boots on and went in up to my hips...brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.....but I got the phone ....yeehaw and then dried it off and I cannot believe it but it worked ....and has worked fine since....
So after this amazing feat of stupidity ....I went home and put the waders on and then put cell phone in a baggy....and tied a little key life saver on it...hahahaha.....but it was so worth it because I know you all are just amazed and astounded over my finds for that day !

For those of you wondering....that melted lump of lead on the bottom of picture used to be a spoon.... ;)

Too funny, and I know the feeling. I dropped one on the back side of an overflow dam and went in after it, water wasn't more than 2 feet deep but I was 6 feet below the dam in a gully. It was so cold it took the wind out of my lungs. The phone worked after a couple hours drying but I don't know if I'd go in after another one! Glad you and the phone made out ok, keep it in the zip lock with a float, hypothermia is a real danger. Stay safe Gypsy.

Wonder what the BNC connector was doing there with the rest of the stuff?

And you got a safety award??
Well I didnt drown and I did save my phone and got the dang bottle to boot! Hahahaha....Nothing on my award mentions 'Graceful"

Gypsy, Way to work for it!
Likin the Hotwheel..is there a date on it?
Pulled a Nextel out of the water after my brother in law rolled his P.U.in a water filled ditch. It had been there for 10 days but after drying it out completely it worked fine.Even saved all of the numbers in the memory. Congrats on the good finds....Joe

Glad to hear you're okay, and the phone, too.

Up to the hips, eh? Ahem........

I took a spill off an overflow dam with my BRAND NEW Nokia 6682 (~$350.00)in my pocket. Fell about 6 feet into 8 feet of water......glub glub glub. REAL fast threw it to a bystander on the bank, jumped out of the water, and took a hairdryer to the phone, (after a fast drive home). Works like a champ, which I am grateful for (no phone insurance).

Glad you and phone survived, and love the finds!

Love all them finds!

Great haul Gypsy!!! My wife had a cell phone that my duaghter dropped off of a bed, into a plastic cup of water!!! Put it in front of a fan all night long.......next day, it worked.....there's more though! After about 2 months the phone went dead!!! Have heard others had the same experience also!!! Hope your phone is ok!! Nascarfan

Congratulations on your finds. I am glad you were able to recover you phone and it still works. It does seem that it is always during the most unexpected time that something happens that makes you go DoH. And usually it something to dread that we need to do to fix our DoH's.

As far as the cold water goes. NO problem. Good for the vitality :)

shiver me timbers, girl!
Great save !
Nice finds :)

Great story. Leave it to a dedicated treasure hunter to risk hypothermia for a cell phone AND a bottle. Glad you and the phone are fine. Now please do tell, what city is embossed on the bottom of the Coke bottle? And do the milk glass jars (Pond's I presume) have any monetary value (since I seem to find more of them than any other type of bottle)?

:o :o What an interesting story.. A funny sad glad sort of a thing. Got some nice finds. HH
