Is there anywhere in/near/around Lake Powell to find Gold?

I just bought a new 18’ pontoon boat and have Hookah gear to maybe grab some panning material off the bottom or on beaches. (I’ll leave the dredge at home).

…however …even though its a lower 48 fishing boat don’t be surprised if I make it a Nome dredge.

I have a Minelab Gold Monster…if it would be worth bringing?

I’ve only been there one time several years ago on a houseboat trip. I didn’t bring any prospecting gear but the fishing was out of this world! We found a beach to park the houseboat and it just happened to be right in a striped bass feeding frenzy!! I could see the clouds of baitfish around the boat and they started boiling!!! I had very little fishing gear but I did have some rubber minnows and that was perfect. I wish I had pictures of those fish. No monsters but all between 3 and 7 pounds…every cast for hours. I was using an ultralight rod so they felt like monsters

Well, I had prospecting and dive gear with me but didn’t get to use it.

We have a diving board on the back/side of the ‘toon. My 8 year old jumped off the side of the board instead of out off the end. His knee hit a bracket that’s welded onto one of the logs and it sliced his knee open really bad….about a 6 inch long slice all the way to his kneecap. We ended up at the ER in Page AZ for the rest of the day. He got 3 layers of stitches and sent away with pretty much no restrictions.
All 3 boys wanted to go fishing the next 2 days. …so that’s what we focused on and didn’t end up prospecting. We caught about 50 stripped Bass and about 20 crappie.
It would have been a bit tough prospecting anyway.
…here’s a pic of Gage’s knee and 1 of the diving board.

Iconic Double Arch known as ‘Toilet Bowl’ collapses at Lake Powell

The National Park Service said the 190-million-year-old sandstone feature, that was often the playground for boaters in the Glen Canyon Recreation Area in Rock Creek Bay, fell into the water Thursday.

The Double Arch area on Aug. 9, 2024, after it collapsed, the gap in the center where the arch once was. (National Park Service)

“Changing water levels and erosion from wave action is suspected of contributing to the ultimate collapse of the arch,” the National Park Service said in a release.

TOILET BOWL CRUMBLES: Video captures the splashes of rocks falling into the water of Lake Powell the day before the Double Arch broke down on Friday.
