Nice, I always liked hunting the Mississippi River for Agates in Wisconsin. Never made in to one of the old quarry sites. My grandma said Agates the size of softballs could be found there.

Road Dog, yeah gravel pits/quarries are the places to look if you have access, are careful and know what to look out for. I have searched some very good sites. Softball size has been rare for me but I know they are out there! What is fun is you never know what the next really nice find will look like.
Thanks! I am glad you enjoy them. Yes many fairburn agates have similar color and are likewise beautiful. I have seen some nice specimen photos of fairburn's and have always been amazed by the intricate patterns they often exhibit.
Oddly enough I just stumbled across a stash of agate pics that I never got around to posting over a year ago. I might just have to start another pic-heavy thread to help us northerners through this winter until the snow clears and we can see what the freeze/thaw brought up.
