I wonder why I can't see the videos you post lately Larson.

That boy be jamming:icon_thumleft: And the other videos are great

Hi Larson,
That young whipper snapper was gettin down! I'd have been petrified. The Ho Chunk nation has a powwow here every Memorial weekend which I've enjoyed a couple times. By the way I like the fish hook candy cane in your avatar.

Larson, I know you are a musician just as I am. I must say this young man has some powerful pipes on him. I have never been to a pow-wow. I'm not sure (although I truly doubt it) if this style of music is a common at pow-wows. I feel like this young talent has created a new style of music. He has created a genera that mixes his ancestry and his modern American life. It is marketable, I have no doubt about it. I watched this 4 times. Great post my friend.

That young man has talent!

that's strange why you can't see them.....maybe i can find out?

hey rusty yup they use hand drums at the pow-wows....i've been to several and my wife has been to an awful lot of pow-wows ever since she was young

the hand drums are cool
i have a good one and it's really loud.......it was made by Wankiya-Tony Good Owl from the Fort Berthold res of 3 affiliated tribes .......Mandan, Hidatsa, and Arikara

friend Russy has a very nice real old one which is bigger and very pretty painted

maybe i can get us a few pictures

this is9 year old lakota sioux aaron letendre

'stop standing by the door'......'hit the floor!'

note the hand drum technique is more complicated than it looks.........
......see his left hand?......... his fingers are controlling the sustain and the damping of the beat as he is playing.....
.........you can see his little fingers reaching to the back side of the vellum (skin) in between each beat......
when he does the chorus he is doing the classic double tap on the rim

The words:

C'mon everyone get up and dance don't be shy tonite
Quit standing by the door hit the floor!
young and old dance! I'm gonna rrrrock your world tonite!

IMG_0326.webp here is my hand drum that used to belong to Wankiya Tony Good Owl........Tony Good Bird
