I am not very familiar with bottles and glass, but I was metal detecting a late 1800s foundation and found a small bottle dump while digging. I found a snake oil bottle. Then I found a larger bottle dump where there are many intact bottles. I found some jars with porcelain lids, and other bottles with words. Would it be worth my time to keep searching?

Heck yeah! Find the outer edge of the dump and dig straight down, then work your way side-ways into the dump. Go slow, they are fragile and probably mixed with lots of junk iron.

Keep digging you never know what's under the surface be careful though digging bottles becomes a disease lol.

I went back today for a few minutes and found:
a porcelain lid
a glass lid dated 1900
a tall bottle.
pics coming tomorrow.

Wellllllll , did ya find some more goodies ?? Congrats on the snake oil !! is it BIM or machine made ?

Here are some pics The rose colored lid says: pat. April 10, 1900 and the last one has measuring units on the front of the bottle.

The lids are usual liners for Mason, Ball or other assorted canning jars. If you have pictures of the bases, it may give us a better date range.

the sit is not to old,the bottles may not be much but with a metal detecting you may com up the wheet pennys.
