Im assuming the center piece moves up and down. Can you tell us the patent date on the bottom (top)? FEB 2 1916? (PAT..FEB2. 16)???

Looks more like a emitter.Mabe for irrigation with the piece in the middle looking like it's made to devert water.Could be of a sprayer pulled behind tractor:icon_scratch: Also I guess.If it's a old farm field your speaking about.If just a field then it might be some kind of fire sprinkler.

How about that patent number or more pics of it please.
I never even saw that date until u mentioned it!!! It is scratched right across the date but looks like feb 2 16, or maybe 18, hard to tell with scratch

Being brass for long life in water and threads look NPT, I'd say check valve or foot valve, whichever you wanna call it.
