So I inherited this plaque. It's about two feet wide. It's really really heavy. I was told what it was, which was wrong, but I'll withhold that for the moment as not to pollute thought.

I should mention that the weird spots on the face of the plaque are from the egg crate foam box that it was sitting in since the mid-1970's.

Anyone have any ideas?

you say a show in 1972 South Dakota. do you know the city
i search a bit on that info came up with a show in Brookings
that started in 72, and continues today, art, coin, antique
saw some coin shows that have been there in several cities
since the 70s
No idea. I also don't see the relevancy. His main focus was coins and civil war tokens, with the latter being the reason for the show. What happens at these shows is patrons come to the show with something to sell and they walk around, from dealer to dealer, until they get the best price. Or an offer. I've been with my wife's dad at a show where he will buy something at a show and sell it to someone at that very same show for more than double what he spent. Repeatedly. He had quite a talent.

Sigh. So with all the discussion about the show, I went back into my old email. It on my old computer, which isn't kept plugged in anymore and I never figured out how to migrate all the old emails off of it. I keep it for just such an occasion.

I didn't have all my fact's correct, but nothing that changed is directly relevant to the plaque itself. I just wanted to share for the sake of accuracy.

Back in August 2013, I emailed the chairman of the Charles and Anne Morrow Lindbergh Foundation. It was he that contacted Reeve Lindbergh on my behalf.

The plaque was bought from a known antique dealer from Michigan. That dealer is the one that I called in 2013 who remembered it as a Lindbergh plaque.

I do a lot of research on a LOT of items online and over email, so clearly I got some facts mixed up on a few of them. Sorry 'bout that.

Well, we're still pretty much shooting in the dark on this one...

It could just as easily be a random person as a famous one - like this tribute plaque at a golf course:

Yeah, I'm leaning this way now, also.
A person never in the limelight.
I thought everyone would close in on this one, quickly.
Kind of a cool mystery, now.

Someday, someone will have a tombstone plaque depicting a metal detector.
When people walk by, it will beep ?

Hey Guys , any possibility that it's a younger Frank Sinatra ? that came to mind really quick after seeing the pic. I don't know why , i never liked his music so it seems crazy to me that he popped into my head . Yeah , i know it's a stupid idea... but might trigger somebody else into another direction.

Maybe here are some young Frank photos but I think the ears on the plaque are larger.images (3).webpdownload (4).webpThe only side profile I could find was a mug shot.plaque1.webp

I'm not saying it is him on the plaque, but for some reason, I really want it to be. But here is a picture of Lindbergh in a bow tie.

About that Franks Sinatra forum. Nancy Sinatra is an active member, and she is certain that it's not her dad.

First Charles Lindbergh's daughter, now Frank Sinatra's daughter.

This thing is taking me to weird places.

I will ask my daughter later today so you can add her to the list. But, for the record, I'm pretty sure it isn't me.

Never dreamed I'd be in a chat that included input from Charles Lindbergh's daughter and Frank Sinatra's daughter !
So, with DC, that makes three ... how many more does that leave us ?
