Wednesday hunt with Bill D, and Thursday hunt with Bill and Brad (outdoor ADV).
Wednesday Bill and I started off at my pond site that has been so good to me. And Cjon.
We were able to grab a few keepers.
Didn't set the word on fire, but I did witness Bill dig down over a foot and pull out a keeper. Wow, he knows his machine very well!
I managed to get a few buttons and a musket ball from the site.
Then we hit a big soybean field that was just cut. I grabbed a toasted copper out of that one, and a couple more buttons.
Saved the best site for last, we spent a couple hours there Wednesday afternoon, we wanted to save it for Brad for the next. I was able to get a LC, and a silver spoon with initials and some buttons. Lol.
The next day, Thursday we meet up with Brad in the morning, he had over a 3hour drive to get to us.
We headed back to the same site.
This site is the one Beez got permission for when he came up from NC. ( Thanks Jay).lol
He turned over the permission to me after they went back down south, so technical it was my site! haha.
Anyway I'm going on way to long here. On this day I dug this stamped brass shield rosette with a lead back.
At least we believe its a rosette.
Im including a pic of the shield buckle that was found here that I just got in the mail today from (Smittyman) he send it to me because I really liked it. It was so funny that he did that the day after I dug the rosette. Wow, how cool.
Thanks Steve.
All in All it was not a fantastic hunt for me, but the guys I meet made up for it 10 fold!!!! Nicest Guys you ever wanted to meet!!!! Oh almost forgot, the the masonic Cufflink I found at the same site I found the other one about 8 months ago, not sure they were a pair? Because the other one is a little bigger. But how cool would it be if they were back together after 200 years....
Ps, stay tuned..

Glad you got to meet some great people buddy. I have been in communication with both Bill and Brad and consider them to be great new friends. Oh yeah and just as overboard obsessed as you and I. Didn't realize that was possible lol. I'm sure the Cufflink is very nice but you pretty much suck at taking pics bro 8-). Good thing you're awesome at finding the goods. Some really nice finds there my friend. I'm excited to see what the boys found. I may or may not have gotten a teaser pic

Thanks Abe,
As you know Brad and Bill are great guys. We had alot of fun. I think the best part was the horses electric fence and the friendliness horses you ever met. They almost ran us over. And Bill and I got zapped. Lol

You're putting together a pretty darn nice CW collection. At the start of the year you didn't have anything did you? Very nice indeed. Glad you guys were able to find a few treasures to make the trip worthwhile for Bill.

Thanks for the permission Jay.
That place has been good to us.
You found 2 or 3 first there?
Glad you live in NC!!! Lol
And the only CW things i had were a few buttons. This year is going to be hard to top..
You have to come on back up and get us some more permissions. Lol

As well as I! Ha. In determining if the nylon ribbons indeed has wires in them, I used the "grab it and see if you get shocked" technique. Yup, its electric! Ha. :lightbulb:

Thats right!! I forgot.
Go ahead Brad, try it. Oh crap, IT IS ON!! HAHA..sorry...

Haha. Wouldn't be the first time I got shocked by an electric fence, and it won't be the last time! I have to say getting shocked in my index finger and discharged through my thumb is a LOT less of a surprise than what you got. Haha

Im so blind! Lol. They look good paired up, but I'd wonder too if they are from the same pair.... You will know when you find #3. :)

Or, he needs to go find that connecting bar for the pair now Keith! Let's see how good George is with that Deus!

Nice finds George (as usual)
I'm don't think that your second cufflink is the match to the first. I think it came from a different set of masonic cufflinks. If the guy who lived there was a Mason, he may have had several sets.

Here are the ones I found last year linked together. They are identical.

Gotcha ya, thats Steve.
I was thinking the one was smaller so it fit in the shirt.

Real cool set of cufflinks, glad to see you and Bill made some killer finds, keep it up, ground ain't frozen yet!

Very nice set of finds there! Great rosette and cufflink

Good stuff...I really like that cufflink!

Man, I thought that shield was going to be something special, maybe military related, but guess that was not to be. And that's disappointing those masonic cuff links weren't an exact match. But I enjoyed watching you dig those as well as all the other stuff you recovered during those 3 days, and hope I get the chance to do that again. April for sure .... Enjoy your weekend.

Really nice digs George, the cuff link is a good find. Sounds like you guys had a great time. Bill raved about the sites and the company.

Great hunting George, those cufflinks are extremely cool, and I like that shield rosette

Hey V those are some sweet early finds:headbang:

That Masonic Link pops up every now and again a great personal relic..
