Georgeous Georgius! He's in good shape! nice save. :) Are you on the east coast?

Not a common find in the US, so I'd guess a Canadian find or maybe somewhere like MI.

I found one last year at a stage coach stop in Ma.

True, can't remember that many being posted on here from the US.

it was found in the u.s. i live in the northeast about 50 miles south of the canadian border. i have seen a couple of them on this web site and didn't know they were such a rare find in the u.s. thanks.

Nice find! I've found several of these in Eastern Maryland and Delaware. 1806 and 1807s too. Also the cartwheels have popped up occasionally.

nice find and in pretty decent shape

I wouldn't say rare, but when you look at the history I think it probably makes sense you wouldn't see a lot found. George II and 1770s George III are much more likely, and that's because those coins do make sense for America's timeline.

One of the nicer looking GIIIs I've seen, they don't seem to hold up as well as other Colonial era (approx) coppers.
different alloys??? Congrats on a good'un

Different alloys in the sense the 1799, 1806, and 1807 were counterfeited much less. It's actually quite rare to see a really crude one from that era. For George II and especially George III it was like the wild west.

Nice find...that;s the same coin that took me into the 1700s.
