Looks like a clock pendulum weight.

Thanks PBK, that's what I had in mind but couldn't find anything like it online.

WOW! :o Thanks for the picture!

I also found lots of old clock gears in the area so it makes sense.

Now I know what color they were too!

Most likely this one was antique gold color?

This one is a little bent probably due to the heat from the fire.

Back in those early days so many homes burned down. I look for these sites.

By the way, the one shown at the bottom right looks exactly like mine. THANKS!

Am I the only one who sees Budda in that thing? ??? ???

Never even thought of that. But since this most likely dates to the Victorian era when it was considered cool to have stuff from around the world, well, I suppose it's possible.

Anybody else see Buddha in it?

I am not an expert by any means so take what i say with a grain of salt. I don't think it belongs with a clock because the end is curved and not straight. I would think that it is a part of a handle, maybe a decororative handle of a big serving piece. Someone will jump in but I have had 2 grandfather clocks and the weights hung straight and not with the bow that shows in the pic Mary ann

gosh dang it, i can not guess anything right. Why can't something have the same decorative design but be used for something totally different. Just to make it look pretty with that design. Mary ann
