Leo's place
During our lives, I think that we've all had the urge to go back and re-visit a place that has held special memories from our past. Two weeks ago, I had the chance to do just that. Here are some pic's and some family history to go along.
45-years ago when I was 12-years old, my dad and I might have had a fair chance at making the TNet Banner Page with the amount of silver certificates and coins ($450) we found hidden on this property but, TNet wasn't around yet
This 2-acre parcel along a narrow gravel road in central Iowa was inherited by my grandmother from her cousin back in the early 1960's. Her cousin Leo was never married and the only trip he ever made away from home was to France during the First World War. His closest neighbors lived just over a half-mile down the road and maybe once a week, they might stop by to see how he was or to drop-off some of their Sunday dinner left-overs.

The 3-room house, along with various out-buildings and a blacksmith's shop, were originally built by Leo's father in the late 1880's and still remain standing to this day. During WWI, Leo had become an auto mechanic so after the War, a garage with a wooden floor-pit was constructed so he could work on cars and tractors.

Many of the relics and antiques that were originally here 45-years ago, were brought home and later given to me and my brother. Here are some things I brought home from this trip.

The model plane has a wingspan of about 24" and the fuselage appears
hand-made from a round gutter. The wooden wings are about 3/8" thick.

I'm planning to go back next spring with my brother for a couple of days when the ground-cover is thin.
Thanks for looking!
