After work my cousin and I headed over to a farm in Winchester that we gained permission to hunt last year. Today I decided to go through the woods, but a different set of woods than normal. I have probably at best found 3 good things in the woods on this property since I started detecting here. A nice 3 ringer and an 1897 barber dime. Anyway, so I see a clearing in the distance in the woods where the grass has died and laid over so I make my way over there climbing over the dead trees. There's an old barbed wire fence separating properties and I keep about 6 feet away from it working my way down and I got a nice tone and vdi on the F75, a 65-71. So I'm thinking POSSIBLY a cw bullet or most likely a big piece of iron that loves to give off nice tones and numbers and considering I was right next to a fence, I was expecting to dig trash. So I dig down about 5-6 inches and pull out my pro-pointer, locate the item and grab my lesche and pop it out of the hole. Find it again with the pro-pointer and I realized it was a coin and most likely a large copper. Started to wipe the dirt away and could clearly see it was a KG II with superb detail. You can read everything on this coin which is kinda rare for these old coins. This is my first KG the II and my oldest coin dating 1749!!!
Funny how some days you can spend hours upon hours and not find anything, but sometimes spend minutes in a spot and find something great. Exactly why I love this hobby. Thanks for looking an happy hunting.
