RJ55 Nice jug !!! I like how tall the top is ! Thanks for sharing. ***** Diggin through the storage unit I found this jug that is a family heirloom , when I was 14 I was at my great uncles house in Butler Georgia , He told me to come with him out to the barn , he took this dusty old salt glazed beehive style jug down from a shelf and handed it to me and said it was mine if I wanted it , and told me this belonged to my Great Great Grandmother (mammie) and that she kept her "medicine" in it 8-)

,and that she Always made her own medicine in the woods out back of the house a ways 8-)

. It no longer is in the storage unit but has found its place on the shelf where it belongs.

Pike, both those jugs are killer, love the fact that you have a relative's personal item.
Got a feeling that her medicine would probably burn a hole through plastic, glad she kept it in that whiskey.
That Cripple Creek jug is making me salivate for some medicine as well!

This thread has been too quiet for too long !! so I thought its time for us all to see and share some new jugs. Here is one we found a couple years ago in a small trash pit not a privy, almost right in the center of Cripple Creek . There are only appx 4 maybe 5 of these known,all are 1/2 gallons, this one is the first gallon one we have seen in 33 years :headbang:

. It is cracked as you can see but whole. Soooo, come on ,lets see some more jugs !

Nothing special here, just figured I'd share. I have a few generic 1 gal. jugs laying around. Whisky? Maybe, maybe not. Here's a couple of them...

That's a good looking and very special jug there, Charlie. Your great uncle's place was within 25 miles of me. What's wild is that I'm doing some work for a doctor that just moved to our little town from where else but Colorado. Do you ever make it back to Georgia from time to time?

Sweeet !!!! That is the 3rd one I've seen of those, I dug one , can't remember who has the other. Congrats !!!!

Thanks Sand , I haven't been there since I was 14 or 15 , would love to get down for a visit , my great uncle and aunts old property was pre civil war, the family landed in Savanna around 1660, 1680 . Lots of family history there !

I also have a jug in the family! It's currently with my parents. I know that it belonged to my grandparents, before that I'm not sure. I think it's a Dutch jug, but I'm not sure. It's got the original wooden cork. I've looked at this thing so many times growing up, no doubt it sparked my interest! It's a miracle that the five of us kids didn't break it.
