Lincoln Dollar coins?

I went to my local bank the other day to check for some halves but they didnt have any. The teller said he did have some dollar pieces though so I said id take em. When he pulled em out they were lincoln pieces with a gold finish. I told him no thanks as I thought he was talking about Ikes.

Did I miss out on something. I have never seen/heard anything about these suckers but from what I could tell they werent anything special.
