Liquid in a Bottle!!

Greetings,

We have found a bottle in a site, still we cannot identify what liquid is in the bottle. Transparent liquid like water on top and colored liquid at the bottom of the bottle and cannot mix together (immiscible) or (miscible) they are always separated by what we don't know.

please advise whats in the bottle?




from sources, the bottle might have stayed for more than 50 yrs

Uhhh, no.
At the volunteer fire dept. where I lived in Ct., we jokingly referred that that technique as a biological indicator. As in "a canary in a mine shaft" because when it dies then you know if it isn't safe anymore!

Probably a benign substance (oil and water?) but more info about the surrounding area when found is helpful, ie; a mine shaft might indicate something volatile?

On a Treasure site! That's where it was found, along with other things.

"Treasure site" could be any place. I was just trying to see what the environment was like to help rule some things out.

The following are "treasure sites" (depending on your search criteria):
1)Dumpster - Lots of Sterling found there
2)Trash pit
3)Outhouse
4)Mine shaft
5)Caves
6)Local pub
7)Etc
8)Etc

With that being said the bottle appears to be somewhat modern, so maybe an oil and vinegar solution?
