Found on a beach this morning that uses a sifter at night, I will never ever again believe those things clean a beach of everything. I have hunted this beach area before too several months ago. You never know what might be under your toes ;D haven't found anything newer than 79 so far and older than 63. nice clump of copper :icon_thumleft: Stuff all fused together like you see

I am sure it was a storm blow out that was brought in by the last high surge next hurricane or surge I will be looking again in that area as maybe there was more than one sack in the home probably never find a find like it again

I was watching Pawn Stars and a guy had a bunch of silver rupees fused together. I thought of this thread. The rupees were worth 3/4 million though :laughing7:

Hope you are doing well Bobby.

Amazing find

Up here in Toronto, Canada. We have a rather large Indian segment of the population living just north or us in a town called Brampton. There is a significant religious holiday I believe it is called "Diwali" that is pretty heavily celebrated.

Anyway, during this holiday celebration, members of the church will make their way down to either a large lake or a running river or stream and drop, or throw pennies & other copper objects offerings to thier god into this water.

Last September I found one of these locations. There are litterally thousands of pennies located within an 8 foot circle. I stopped at 2500 because the water was just a bit too cold for my liking. Anyhow, that is what I think you may have there. Your gathering of pennies may just be a bit more localized.

Good luck.

I dont know, but perhaps it was the final wishes of a now-deceased detectorist that had his former clad findings reburied in a cache for another detectorist to find! ;D

While in Bangkok, a few years back I had the opportunity to observe and participate in a festival called Loi Krathong. They float offering boats made of banana leaves and flowers down stream. most were filled with coins as an offering to the river goddess. I imagine the hundreds of years this festival has been going on have deposited quite a mother lode in the coffers of the Phra Mae Khong.

I like the idea of a fellow detectorist having all his pennies buried, so some other person with a detector could find them again.
And the guy who was in S.E. Asia.......put on some scuba gear and have at it.......what a time, digging up hundreds of years of coins thrown into that river.......the impossible dream.....

I don't mind finding pennies'-) Pennies make dollars!!
