Live Testing The World's First Automated AI Coin Sorting Machine

Hey all, it's been a while since I've posted here, but I want to share an interesting development in the coin roll hunting meta that may be on the near horizon for anyone who is interested.

You may have heard of this machine before: it's called the RoboCoin and it uses AI to automatically sort through coins and separate potentially rare/valuable coins from the rest. It basically does the same thing we do, but in a semi-automated way.

Now, I would never use this machine to completely replace manual searching because, like many others, I feel that would take all of the fun out of the hunt. Instead, I could see myself hunting through a box of coins the normal way, then feeding the rejects through the machine to see if it catches anything I missed/didn't know to look for.

It's still in the beta stage and leaves a lot to be desired, but the fact that this technology now exists and is improving is very interesting to me.

Interesting but not ready for prime time, since it put a standing liberty quarter in the dump bin. Also, I can rim search dimes faster than this machine.
But like all tech, in time it will happen.

I would rather see how the machine handles a full box of pennies, nickels, dimes or quarters.

Interesting. As the technology for this advances a lot further than what is demonstrated in this video in regards to speed and accuracy, I could easily see some big company such as Coinstar employing it to search their pallet loads of coins for ones they could sell in order to increase company profits and executives paychecks and bonuses. As with most any company, their hourly paid workers would see no increase in their pay at all and the most they could possibly get would be a couple of slices of pizza if they're lucky.
