long-shot - no physical medal, just small image in old photo

This is a long shot because I do not actually possess this medal, I only have a photo of it that is about 100 years old, which shows a young woman wearing it on a necklace (so I guess you'd call it virtual treasure). For the attached image, I scanned the original photo at 1200 dpi in hopes of bringing out at least a little bit of detail; the angle of perspective is another challenge to identification. I hope it looks familiar to somebody out there.

Very tough, and I wouldn't eliminate the possibility of it being a locket.

I agree with Ironpatch. I believe it's a locket. I am a bit of an antique locket fancier and lockets were very common in the era this photograph was taken

Thank you, all, for your responses to my unusual request. I should have guessed it was a locket but somehow that word just didn't come to mind. I'll leave this open for now in case somebody recognizes the specific design, though I realize it may be very generic.
