I've looked high & low on line but came up empty.Maybe someone here can help.
In my back yard, I have what I believe to be the remains of a old (perhaps 1800s) road.Perhaps a stage coach route at one time.
Definitely man made.Definitely old.Lower parts of it have been built up (leveled) with stones. Its not wide, maybe 12'-14'. Must be some OLD
Road/trail maps,someplace on file.Any ideas ? ...Thanks...

Your local Public Library is your friend.

Also try your local historical society.

I found a map of Patrick County at the one in Stuart dating back to the mid 1800's showing roads and locations which essentially no longer exist.

Thanks for the pointers guys:)

Try Virginia Techs historical map data base.
Also if you know any old shiners they may be able to help you with older routes.
Civil War maps.
Then if all else fails, old property ownership maps.

Update. After researching thru all the 'old map' sites I came up empty. In the pix. you can just make out the road/trail just behind the big tree.Spend the last 6 days(1 hr. per day) weed whacking prickers just so I could 002.JPG to get to the big tree.004.JPG
