and its not just me. i can see by the posts here

that not many are finding much silver halves.

my last 24 boxes found no keepers.

i have made such a routine out of searching halves

that i dont know how i will live without them.

i have been looking as much as i could since 1991.

after 2006 or so i was splitting any free time with

metal detecting due to being overweight and

needing excercise.

but wow.this is gonna be like withdrawl.

im not giving up yet but i really HATE TO SEE IT END.

looks like the game change here at the end of the halves

will be road tripping.

they just aint makin it to the boxes.

i really dont like road tripping that much

i always felt it was so much easier just pick up boxes and dump

routine.

and had made it a part of regular runs with no extra gas cost.

road tripping with gas at 3 / gal is gonna be tough

even in my geo metro.

i almost cried tonite when my last 4 boxes were skunks.

well i can and will start lokking at small denomination coins

as others are doing.
but it just wont be the same.

this wont be the last good thing goin goin gone either.

the monkeys and bigwigs who run our govt and big industries

are about to rape the general public in spectacular fashion

like many i would say any hedge my silver can give

will be very welcome.

I do not think this ride is over...I am finding silver in my boxes of Halves. My last box were 2 1964's and 3 40%'ers. I was skunked a while back for 5 weeks in a row, but since then I've not been skunked once. Chin up, pal keep the nose to the grind stone, you'll stumble on to the silver againg soon.

It's not as bad as you think. Plenty of people are recovering silver from their boxes but don't post the results for silly reasons.
Change up your routine, do a road trip or two a week, and you will be back on top in no time.

sure there will be isolated cases and even spectacular

finds are possible. especially given the number of folk

now looking.

but the days when u could count on at least a few

silvers if u ordered say 3000 are over.

in fact even up to last year i cant rem any more than triple

skunks.tho there were quite a few saved by a lone 40.

at this point im at 32 in a row skunk boxes.

and thanx for the cheer ups . i wont give up yet. ;D

Please forgive an --deleted-- newbie. When referring to boxes, what exactly do you mean and where do you get them? Road trip?

Thanks

Goldee43, if you read the beginners guide (the whole thing) it should answer most of your questions. Boxes of coins is a litteral box of rolled coins that are delivered to the bank by whatever armored car service the bank uses. I believe boxes are in amounts of $500 halves, $250 dimes, $100 nickels or $25 cents - but it may vary depending on where the banks get them. Typically banks do not carry boxes on hand unless they go though a large volume of coins in a week. Some banks will order boxes for you if you ask, although they may charge a fee for it (as they have to pay to get them).

Road trips are usually to get coins from teller trays, or rolls that customers hand roll and bring in.

If you do get a box, please remember that you should never return your dumped coins to the same bank. It is rude to the tellers, and you run into the likelyhood that your next box will contain all your dumped coins.

No I don't work at a bank. I meant Friday and Monday when I could go to a bank and buy halfs.

anyone know WHY " they " the silver ain't makin it to the boxes?

I'll tell you why..

Because the companies like loomies, brinks and hartsburg PA NEED the Crh's to stay in business,

so, now that everyone caught on, they cherry pick the pain profit, seeding the boxes with just a few halves,

to keep the orders up and keep them in business. Imagine what the manager thought when he found out if he picked all the silver, what the number of boxes ordered would be in a year.

So yeah, look at it this way, everything you're getting, slipped under the radar intentionally or sometimes unintentionally from someone elses reserve orchard.
