Yesterday my wife came home with a bag of coins she brought home from the safe deposit box at the bank. It was a fifth of the pile of coins her dad had before he passed. She said she wishes she could go back to that day when she just divided the coins into five piles, not caring what was in the piles, then gave the piles to her siblings. The pictures are of the coins we inherited...any ideas on getting the other four piles of coins back :)

Well maybe they don't know what they have either! I would take a pocket full of clad and trade up even!!! >:D >:D :angel12: Anyway those are some nice coins! KDMB

Steal them back! Invite them to dinner and while they are at your house break into their house! Replace every coin with a clad equivalent so then technically you aren't stealing are you? You'd be exchanging those old nasty coins for new shiny ones.

Why don't you just offer to buy them from them. Some folks don't care about old coins. :tongue3:

DANG!
Genooooool..
Ya know, my fav's are the mercury dimes!
I would just tell them straight up that you'd like to keep the collection together, as you think it is important to display them all together...if they are cool family, they'll just give them to ya....if not,
OFF THE CHRISTMAS LIST! that'll show em! ::)

nice finds Genool, you know my weakness....coins!

trade ya a bullet! :icon_sunny:

Thaks for looking everyone.. My favorites are the two silver dollars. One is 1921 and the other is 1922, but they look nothing alike. I think that is really cool to have the side by side like that.

Thanks again.

I am with txbluzmam, replace the coins dollar per dollar, steal them back! just kidding even the most honest of us somestimes has larceny in our hearts but we eventually overcome it. I know I an guilty but my conscience always wins out, darn it

Lamont, I have suddenly found out how very true that is.

Thanks for looking..

Well my wife suggested against asking for the coins... Maybe they'll turn up some time... I'll keep my eyes open for them...

Thanks for all the replies..

Y'know, the part in blue is the part I do agree with. And it kinda even makes a little sense. Well, it could, anyway. Thing is, they might want that old shaving mug Dad had (or whatever) as a swap - just so's they still had "something" of his.

Anyway, congrats on what you do have!

Agree

Maybe you could ask to see them and get an Idea of what they are worth. But they may not part with them either as the sentimental value will outweigh the true value. From what I see you have common coinage with a value of less than $40
