I got out today for a couple hours to the site I found last week. My first target out of the ground was a military button. After that I thought I would be digging buttons all day...turns out this was the only button dug. I did dig a lot of other stuff including the complete horses bit. That one was actually pretty deep and took some digging. That is the first one of those I have ever dug! Also got a few decorative doodads and a couple whatsits.

I'm hoping someone can identify the military button. It is quite corroded but I can see a lot of detail which is not in the pic. There is a horse and lion standing on thier hind legs with their forelegs on a crest between them. Above the crest is a crown and below the crest is a banner. I cannot make out the words on the banner. Anyone?

Love the button ! Please re post it once it is cleaned up a bit .I would love to see the detail. ;) Love those military relics .

British General Service button - cica WWI (its common for the backs to break of)

Nice finds, I like the bridle bit and nice button! HH, Mike

Bridle bit was a real surprise...now I just gotta figure what I'm going to do with it! Maybe a windchime with all of the buckles I've found...hmmmm

The way the back of the button is made reminds me of the GAR ceremonial buttons we have here in the U.S. They would hook OVER the buttons already sown on a shirt hence the big hole in the back. They were used for like I said, ceremonial purposes here in the US.

Great old relics. Way to go!
