Latest hunt was crowned with a lovely Elizabeth I three halfpence 1561 hammered silver. The coin as a very nice bust, which is not usually the case with Elizabeth I coins ( should be a good drink in this coin:occasion14:). Others finds included the by now mandatory short cross cut half hammered silver.:laughing7:

Wow! What another incredible find! Nice work!

That's an exceptional example Robert as I'm sure you know they're very hard to find with that kind of detail. And a very clear date too. Very nice - congrats!!

Cheers Bill, yes it's a nice example, well pleased with it. It's a strange thing with Lizzie coins, the vast majority were weakly struck on the obverse. The question is why.:dontknow:. The people making the dies, and striking the coins, were no mugs.

That's a nice lookin oldie.
Grats

swell looking coin ya got there.

Beautiful detailed coin! Congratualtions!! :occasion14: :occasion14:

Very nice 3 pence Rob. You've been on quite a roll lately with hammered silver AND condition! Wow and congrats

Wow, that's another beautiful hammered!

I think the Button is the find of the hunt!

Just cleaned the back of the button Cru. Bird cage type loop, is it French ?.

Yeap & probably Napoleonic era. Collectable, me thinks....

Interesting, had a few French finds from this period in the area. Starting to wonder French prisoners. Had the 1812 Russian one ruble coin also nearby. Napoleon had a retreat from Moscow in 1812. Maybe the button though could just be a souvenir from the battle of Trafalgar.
