Was able to get out today for about an hour. Made a couple of decent finds. First find of the day was the back to a button. Little did I know I would dig the front half of it about 20 minutes later and probably 10 feet away. The button reads "Chevaliers of Pythias" I looked it up seems they are a secret organization founded in 1864. Pretty neat find. I couldn't find this exact button its got a scoville backmark. If anyone knows anything on the age it would be much appreciated. Next came the 39 merc. I put a nice scratch on the face of it with the digger. ::) The last find I found in my pouch from the last dig I did. I remember finding it. I guess its a key hole? Its awfull thick and heavy for its size though. Looks to be fairly old too. Any info on that would be great too. Thanks for looking.

Thanks Bill. Wouldnt mind finding the key that fits it. Enjoy the weather my friend.

Hey Jesse, I remember something about that secret organization on the History Channel some time ago. I'd say they are pretty rare buttons to recover. Glad you are out and making great finds. We tried to keep you entertained this past Winter. Now, I hope you can show us great relic and coins when the ticks, snakes, and tall grass slows our hunts.
I'm hungry for lobster. Know anyone with a boat-LOL. HH my friend, Quindy.

Wow!! :o
That button is awesome. I cant' wait to hear more about it. You may have something very rare and important to History there Mainer. Keep up the good digs. :icon_thumleft:

Some really nice finds.

I love the Pythias Button ! Great when you find the other piece :hello2: looks 19th century to me  The wire on the shank I believe is a mans way to reattatch the button because he can"t sew on a button no doubt ! Well It's what I would do anyways :laughing7: Silver is always a keeper  MaineRelic

Cool finds, congrats!

great digs Mainer :icon_thumleft: very strange but cool button too.. based on the backmark's script, late 1800's-early 1900's

Nice Rare button & Silver !
I recognize that flower on the button,
but can't recall the name, kind of odd name :help:
Pythians used some really ornate swords, maybe.....
Up this way we get a keyholes by the score :laughing7:
looking at it again, I think it's something else, some type of mounting hardware? :icon_scratch:
Looks like a soft 'pot metal' alloy, not good for keyhole.
great hunt Jesse
