Ok, why is this not working for me? One more try 1437841011258.webp

Just for perspective, that is a 6ft, 300 pound man in there!

Nice, hope you all have removed that 6" rock and taken a bar to that loose stuff up at the top of the hole  6' fall of 6" rock onto 6' man's head = baaaad day!

I agree, we pulled the loose stuff back on top, the rest was like digging through concrete! This hole took two of us 6 days! Lol, going back to it in 19 days! Can't wait for my working vacation!

Getting back on track...

Herb, are you working at night vs. fighting the daytime heat? I know it stays
hot at night there, but it's got to be a few degrees cooler!

Unfortunately, bedrock in my valley is about 80' down, but there are some
areas where bedrock has pushed up over the centuries. I need to learn
more about how to locate gold ore in those areas.

Although we've been in a massive heat wave for the past couple
months, today it barely made 67F...drizzled a bit too.

Be ordering me a new bleeper (as you call 'em) in the next couple days.
Just trying to decide if I'm going to get the FoRs Core, or FoRs Gold.
Planning a trip late this fall; not sure if I'll get that far South, but if I do
you can bet I'll be pitching a tent in your driveway...:occasion14:

Hey Mike
Its not so much the heat that keeps us out at night, its those dadgum beees this year they are just on us if we are out at daytime.
the little of bit of rain did no good to keep them down, i think it made them more upset not enough rain!
It has to be up around 110 before i call it a heat day after 110 its just to dangerous.

you make it down here we have a mining camp with shade n water, welcome any time Mike.

Fowledup, i have more boulder pics over at my website.

heres a couple shots of our recent prospect going to open this one up a little more, no gold shots as we are only prospecting and values be way low.
very low values, we need lot of luck here or we are just plain diggin.

A couple squirts of bleach in the air or bleach sprayed onto a rag and hung up in a few places (especially water jugs and food) keeps the meat bees at bay, not sure what kind of bees your dealing with but worth a try.

The most feared animal on this planet, the africanized honey bee,
i have been dealing with these guys for years the only way to deal with them is to leave come back at night.

i dont poison them as they are vital to our survival (worth more than the little bit of gold i will ever get) so i just work night when they arent so bad.

Oooh yeah not good, me and the bees no bueno either. I don't like to poison the bees either, not near enough of them. Bleach or vinegar will kill them if poured into the nest or mixed into the water their drinking, but by soaking and hanging a rag it's the smelll that deters them without hurting them. I think the Africanized may be a different animal all together. Gonna get super hot this week so nightime much better, stay cool.

The Kratt brothers of wildkratts, think it PBS tv they give the africanized bee a 9.5 on the bad azz scale.

End of the month its time to chk our numbers heres a breakdown of our time at this prospect.

Its not looking good as far as values, do we keep up the diggin in hopes we hit a pocket or do we walk.

lets here from some of those that follow our story.

Dig or Walk that is the question.

here it is
25 days
36 miles round trip each day
15 min hike in 35 out up hill all the way
15 ton over burden in the form of boulders n cobbs pulled n stacked
800 lbs hand picked hot rocks, (iron, molly, hematite, ect
5 yards placer ore

125 lbs washed concentrates yielded from 5 yards ore across the puffer riffle.

2.5 grms gold ouch !!!!!!!!

will chk back in a couple days we have to go fight the weather maybe some rain ?

Sure hope your gold production improves!

working alone now, and rain just keeps coming making it to wet to drywash, was going to throw in the towel, till i read my horoscope yesterday then i figured what the heck lets see what i get.

You need to stick it out through the current situation, no matter how much you want to cut and run. Your perseverance will pay off in the long run in a big, almost unimaginable, way.

I think i give it a few more days.

Ha whenever the weather gets nasty and I decide to pack up and go , the weather changes for the better at about 50 miles from where I was! go figure!!

Rain got us to wet to drywash, General T broke down,
we get our rig fixed its Time to go hardrock mining,
chk us out over at my website, looks like my horoscope was right !!

Coming soon to my web site.
Big mnt Adventure Part 2,
BB mining co meets Minelab Dukes,
this will most likley prove to be one heck of a bush trip.

GT...........................

Heres a pick of our take from the prospect, looks nice just too much work to little values.

We met dukes wasnt impressed, sent him his gold n minelab packin.

Its hardrock time again we waisted all of 2 months placering, had a lot of fun and got some really good exersise running from the bees.

Time for me to quit playing around and go find a pocket !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

so this ends our placer prospecting story will be over at my web site with more hard rock fun!

GT.............

I have to say that Minelab Dukes is one lucky sucker in his short span of bleepin he has done very well, with a handsome collection of nuggs.

Another hard rock hole cleaned, should of started this up in journals, will get there some day.

movin to our next lode dig, it most likley will be short lived, as we are trying to get grubstaked to do a return to our last chance gulch placer dig from last year.

I think our recent lode dig was 11 foot deep, 16in to 4 ft wide, 23 foot into the mnt we got fair return ( hard rock pics soon) still didn’t get enough for new boots but fixed the truck n got a new tool.

Still hanvt had to use the dukespan, was going to get some vidieo of the stuff in action for youall but our drilling and breaking teknique works very well, besides when ya use that dadgum stuff in hole the dust gets all over ones skin, burns the eyes n nose buttcrack n armpits! So we only use it when its absolutley needed, paper suits cost money.

we will diggin to bedrock again, last time it was 9 foot of monster boulders before we hit the bottom, took 30 days I guess.

This next spot has much sand to move first before we even see the rocks, there could be 15 yards of sand hope its wet a little easier diggins.

Will be dry washin but only what we find at the bottom and the hot rock pockets we get on the way down so I wont be a hand crankin all that dadgum waste this time around.

Gonna try taken ole Hoppy with me this time see if he don’t get us some good luck going.
