With my job I travel to many historic sites. Most closed military bases are loaded with household and military relics. While at Mare Island on the south shore my wife and I found hundreds of antique pieces from the 1850's through 1940's. All in very good to excelent cond.. Awsome site for beach combing.

Hey Digger, where on Mare Island were you beach combing? You must have been on the south side, where the ammunition storage bunkers are? Lots of stuff buried also, but I dont know where, experimental type weapons. Did you metal detect or just eye ball ?
