The American Marten, or Pine Marten, inhabits high elevations. I removed two cameras from such an area today, with the initial intention of capturing images of these animals in snow. However, the weather forecast prompted me to retrieve the cameras prematurely. While some snow is desirable, the potential for substantial snowfall at this time of year could render the area inaccessible until late spring.

Stunning photos, as usual. I'm curious -- for the good shots like these, how many "bad" shots do you get? Just a tail, a nose, or an empty frame, or whatever?

Thanks Robert, Hard to say but will say that the take 10 delete 9 would be a good guess. Actually probably more than that. I'm including a reject here. Rejected because the eye and face is out of focus.. ( All settings are manual including focus,) I have already deleted a bunch of the kind of pictures you spoke of.

Here’s some of the raw files from the other camera I pulled that same day. Majority are rejects. Hope they’re not too small to see.

Canon DSLR in a modified pelican case. Last picture shows a camera box, motion sensor and lock and lock tupperware kind of container for flash gun. All fire in sync with wireless switches. ( This was at a waterhole about three years ago. )
