Mastereagle showed up at my place this morning at 7:30 am. He beats on the door and before I can open the door he almost rips the door off. I told him to chill out and he slinks in the door.
Lately, we (I) haven't been finding much to write home about. It seems hard to get motivated. After the usual jokes regarding my Whites detector and how worthless it is, I get in the car. Much to my surprise and probably dismay, I arrive alive at the place we are detecting. This is a classic old homesite, stairs leading up to the raised yard, looks old as can be. Mastereagle takes off like a dog tracking a coon. I waited until he had his back turned and pelted him with the first handful of dirt clods this morning.
It doesn't take long for us to realize this place is one big trash heap. We don't have the time or inclination to try to clean out trash etc here. It is only about 9 o'clock and it is already about a thousand degree's out. I did manage to score a wheat penny and a mildly interesting house number, and a cap gun cylinder. I also found a whatz-it that looks like and tiny handle to something....I have no idea.
Mastereagle complained and whined until we decided to leave. We went to an old church that has some big history in our area. We finished out the day there with some modern clad and the big man outdid me (as usual) by finding a silver rosie. He usually crows like rooster when he one-ups me and struts around with his head darting in and out like he is pecking imaginary seeds from the air. He was on decent behavior today; attributed to the fact that he was close to a heat stroke I discovered later.
Well, that, in summation, was our morning. Mastereagle went home to his family and apparently they had the day mapped out for him. He invited me to a BBQ over dinnertime, but I declined since I am not fond of poisoning. Just kidding old buddy...I appreciate the invite. I would have come over, but I needed to organize my steller finds!
