I am not quite sure at this point, but a park I have hunted before seems to be producing now !! The last time I went to this particular place I found a lot of clad and nothing else. Then the other day I was in the area so I stopped by to build my clad count for August.

The first thing I hit was a wheatie, then another, then a first for me ----- two wheaties stuck together in the same hole !! So i have been back a couple times today and found more wheats, and all seemingly in the same general area. My total wheat count for the area I have hunted so far is eleven with the oldest being a 1918 and the oldest a 1952.

I went over it real good and real slow and dug just about every single peep my 250 made no matter what the read was, then I dug up this button with what looks like bag pipes on it ??? It is my first real button but i have no idea anything about it .... do you ???? The bad thing was I took my knife to dig out the dirt and then watched the shank fall to the ground, it was badly rusted. Oh well, dig and learn.

Then tonight I just sooo happened to be in the area for the 3rd time today and could not resist a quick hunt. I decided to hit an area kind of away from where I had been. Right away I got a dime signal at about 4 inches and dug up a 1971 dime. Then I got a quarter signal and dug up a tiny piece of wound up can slaw. Then i got a half dollar signal. I never believe these signals for some reason, but I always dig them, cause what the heck ?? This time it payed off, I saw what I have waiting for for a long time - that glimmer of silver from under the dirt !!! It was, as you can see, a 1952 Franklin Half, my very first. And yes I did the HAPPY DANCE right there.!

Thanks for reading and Good Luck

Very cool ! That BF is great!I have been going back over areas I previously hunted also and seem to be finding more stuff than normal..Been trying different techniques testing different ranges on the sensitivity and discriminator-on - off....wheats been popping out of the ground.....

WOW! Finding a half is great though, believe it or not, Franklins are RARE to find with a metal detector. I have found over a 100 walkers and about 20 something barbers in 17 years and only 4 :( BFranklins. Thats one heck of a good coin in my hunble opinion.

I'll bet you did the happy dance!

Love the photos and the description of the hunt!

Congratulations!

very cool.. do you think your continued experience with the 250 has led you to finding more coins? keep at it.

Congrats on a great half!!! Every spot that puts out silver is a dream spot, now you need to slow down and dig!!

Congratulations Sweet Half. And nice pile of wheaties as well. Hope she keeps on being a dream spot for ya.

Good thing you went back ;)
Congrats on those great finds!
Bet you'll be back at dawn ;)

Congrats on the big silver!! If you are pulling those out of the ground still, there is lots more to be found! Get back to it!

Not bad for a park!!!

That is really nice, great coin!!! There should be a lot more goodies in that park. WTG

Nice area and finds,

I'd comb over that place well.

Congrats on finding that sweet spot, very nice finds, WTG!!!
a Franklin is still on my wish list...
Continued Good luck, & Happy hunting~

Very cool. It's always nice to get good stuff from a place you've already hit.
It could be more moisture in the ground that you are now getting better readings.

Mark,
Great post & pix. Congrats on the BF.
I really like that button you found. Hopefully someone can ID it for you.
Any back mark on it or did the whole back rust off?
Thanks,
MM

Super! I think you are doing the right thing by going back again and again. No matter how thorough you think you'be been... there is always room for improvement. Remember those coins are very small compared to the area of ground we hunt. It is easy to miss them. WTG!

great find !!! all the best on ythe return........ ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
