Im real happy with this find from an old athletic field. I also got a 1908d dime and some older wheaties. Man, was that a long winter. Thank you for looking.

Junior G-Men was an American boys club and popular culture phenomenon during the late 1930s and early 1940s that began with a radio program and culminated with films featuring the Dead End Kids.

Purvis led the manhunts that tracked such outlaws as Baby Face Nelson and Pretty Boy Floyd, and most famously John Dillinger. J. Edgar Hoover, head of the FBI at the time, fired or demoted Purvis; some believe out of jealousy for all the attention Purvis was receiving.

Very, very fun find! I've collected radio premiums (and in particular G-man and Melvin Purvis premiums) for a while.

Your badge was issued in 1936 as one of four badges available that year from Post Toasties.

In addition to the Junior G-Man badge like yours, there were two higher ranks (Roving Operative and Chief Operative) and a Girls' Division badge. There were a number of other items available, but I've always loved the badges.

Great Find I'm Melvin Purvis's Great Great nephew,on my Mothers side.I included a pic of my badge that my Grandfather (Walter Purvis) passed down to me. Another interesting family history fact : My Grandmother (Joyce Purvis) was in the "BIOGRAPH THEATER" the night of all the hooplah,she met my grandfather about a month later
