Tom and I met for the first time this morning and hit the park where I got the 2 Mercs yesterday. We hit an area near where he and Ricardo NYC had been hitting silver of late. To my surprise, I hit the first Rosie at about 1"... I couldn't believe it. However, Tom said none of the silver they'd hit had been deep at all. Tom scored shortly after with a Rosie and I countered with a Merc that was just below the surface (can this be happening? :) ). While Tom hit the "new" area, I hit the area that he and Ricardo had been pounding. I called over Tom to tell him they missed one :) another Rosie. All in all a great day and nice to meet up with a new friend :) Look forward to meeting up with you again Tom and hope to see you soon, Ricardo!

It was great hunting with you Joe and isn't it great when the silver is shallow!

It's great anytime the silver "IS" :D

That place Joe seems to keep producing. The last time Tom and I were there, out of all things, there was still a silver washington quarter (Found by Tom). Who could miss that right? I found a merc early in the day and after giving up on the search for another hot little area, advised Tom I was going back to the spot with hope that it would spit out a second coin and after 15 minutes working it, it did. Very shallow goodies in that part of the park. I'm confident there is more. Congrats on the silver Joe! I deifnately look forward to a hunt with both you and Tom. It should make for a great day.

Best,
Ricardo

Are those coins in the condition you found them.If not, was it hard to clean them?I keep finding coins that are nowhere near the quality of those 3 dimes you posted a picture of.

I just rinsed them off and used a soft tooth brush on them. They were pretty darn clean right out of the ground. I guess it depends on the soil condition. I found some others in a very wet area near a pond one time and they had a thin crust on them. It made the silver almost "soft", I could literally scratch it with my nail. Never saw that before.

Nice finds! If you guys ever need another LI hunting buddy please let me know! :-)

Your one hunt produced the grand total of ALL
of my hunts in silver. Congratulations.
:P :P :P :P :P :P :P
