Found a map of 1864 detailing early homesteads and locations. This area is down the road from my place and a mile hike into the bush. Stone foundation of the home of an A.Grant, arrived in Nova Scotia in 1822 from Scotland. Using the metal detector I found an axe head, horse shoes, belt buckles, parts of a wood stove. Will return here soon, because there is much more to be found.

Thank you kindly, will be sharing my finds here with you all. :)

Good place to look. I also like to search old homesteads and I'm also in Nova Scotia. Its amazing to me how many axe heads are out there. I would have thought they would be something that was well cared for. I have found 3 one one day. One thing I have noticed at the old homesteads is that most good finds tend to be shallow. The only thing that seems to go deep are musket balls.

Good luck with your searching.

Welcome to tnet TreasureAnn. Nice research on the location. Those finds are just teasing you to come back. Take care.

Thanks! Yes, I agree. Don't need to dig that deep to find the goodies. I've found some items in the roots of trees that have fallen over. I have found one musket ball! Good luck with your searching as well.

Wow! That is an awesome place! To be honest, I never knew it even existed! That map is so cool. I'm quite a distance from there and that would be a dream location to explore. Thank you kindly for the info. I will save that map and do some research. Amazing.

Thank you for the info about the axe head, I try and imagine how the person who owned it would have used it. Now I understand a little more.
